Our Tree Aid links create a buzz!
Severnprint has been supporting Bristol based charity Tree Aid and has raised £20,000 so far to support their work in Africa.
What's particularly creating a buzz is the funds have gone towards supporting beekeepers to produce high quality honey. This is something that is close to Severnprint's Director, David Pealing who keeps bees himself.
One of the recent success stories was of Issahaku Wuni has an established cashew orchard that produces a harvest of nuts for sale at market. As a key community advocate of tree planting, he too has developed his family’s resources, installing beehives amongst the trees. “Considering that 1 gallon of honey sells for as much as 50 Ghana cedis, [£20] six hives can offer a lot.” Issahaku is confident that his hives will help him to create a long lasting source of income that will help his family to access healthcare and pay for his children to go to school.
