The Circus is in Town (Gloucester)

Roll up, roll up! We are very pleased to be printing the programme, posters and flyers for Gloucestershire based Giffords Circus’s 2010 show.

 The tour starts in Gloucester on Thursday 20th May. It continues touring throughout the summer ending on September 12th in Cirencester.

This year’s show 'Yasmine - a musical' marks the 10 year anniversary of Giffords Circus. It is a musical circus about the life of legendary horse trainer Yasmine Smart. Yasmine will be appearing in the show playing herself, and has trained all of the horses that appear. With brand new costumes, new choreography and musical score written especially for the 12 piece band it is bound to be as exciting and original as ever. Old favourites including Brian the goose will be there. Come and see the whole company in a glamorous 1940s setting.

The circus programme

Over the years we have printed various programmes, posters and flyers for Giffords – each more elaborate and creative – and this one is no different. As the theme of this years show is a musical the aim was to produce a programme that evokes the look and feel of a 1940’s music score. After careful consideration several papers were suggested and trialled before eventually Cyclus Offset was decided upon. Cyclus Offset is 100% de-inked post consumer waste recycled, and crucially has the just the right look and feel as well as environmental criteria. The quality and performance of the paper is as important as the environmental specification. Due to the large quantity of paper required we had to order it to be specially made a month in advance.

As with everything we print it has been printed using 100% renewable energy, processless plates that require 90% less water than conventional plates and vegetable oil based inks. We are pleased that Giffords felt that we should publicise the positive environmental aspects of this job and have placed a strap line on the programme informing the reader of the efforts that Giffords and Severnprint have made in choosing the best environmental print route.
